Swagger Like Us

This is a new T.I. and Jay-Z collaborations, featuring Kanye West and Lil Wayne, which will appear on both T.I.’s new album Paper Trail and Jay-Z’s upcoming album The Blueprint III. It samples M.I.A’s hit “Paper Planes”, which is still getting serious airplay. Is that too soon to be sampling someone else’s hit?

With all the auto-cuing (verbal distortion) on this track its hard to tell which one is Kanye and which one is Lil Wayne. The best way to tell is the one with the weakest verse is certain to be Wayne. Look, Kanye’s no lyrical genius but when you put them both in close proximity, Kanye doesn’t look so bad. Or you could say that it brings into start relief just how rubbish Wayne is. Either way.

I’m not sure if I like this track yet. Not even the chorus really gets me. And while I am a fan of Jay’s new track “Jockin Jay-Z (Dope Boy Fresh)” – I think that there is a limit to how many times Kanye can produce a track whose chorus is nothing more than the continuous repetition of less than a dozen words.
